Thompson Technique

This method requires significantly less force than traditional manual adjusting techniques.

The Thompson drop table technique, another member of the Palmer Specific adjusting family, is a manual based approach.  It is a specific system of chiropractic joint analysis combined with a specialized table that has drop away pieces that utilizes gravity as its source of energy.

Examining leg length changes is at the heart of this technique.  With the patient lying face down on the table, the feet are observed in the extended position and then flexed to compare one with the other noting any difference in the appearance of length.  This approach coupled with specific motions determine the location of the subluxation.

Once the misalignments have been identified, a table with spring loaded, drop away pieces is used. This takes advantage of the spine’s inherent design of its joints in order to move the spinal segment in the appropriate direction so as to restore normal alignment and motion.  Once the correct tension has been set, a manual thrust is applied to the misaligned joint.  That section of the table will drop away by about ¼”, producing enough force to realign the joint. This method requires significantly less force than traditional manual adjusting techniques.
